Amy Doherty, LMSW and EMDR Certified

Hi! I’m Amy Doherty, LMSW and EMDR-Certified

I am so happy you are here! It takes a lot of strength and courage to take the first few steps to obtain help and I appreciate you just being here. Sometimes life can feel really overwhelming, and it can be difficult to sort through it all. You don’t have to do it alone! I will hold space for you to be your authentic self and support you while you overcome past and present hardships. I find it an honor to be part of your healing journey. Together, we will explore solutions to gain emotional stability, self-worth, balance, growth, and peace in your life.

My professional education, training, and experience allows me to work effectively with children and their families, adolescents, and adults. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and enjoy working with people from all walks of life. I have a Masters of Social Work from Michigan State University, a Bachelors of Social Work from Saginaw Valley State University and I’m EMDR-certified.

My Values: Respect, Inclusivity, Authenticity, and Honesty

When I’m not working with my clients, I enjoy reading, being outside in the fresh air, going on walks, being near water, boating, fishing, spending quality time with family and friends, enjoying a campfire, camping, and traveling.

LET'S GET STARTED

Meet Link!

Link - my sweet and brave boy! Link was born in 2016. My husband purchased him for me as a birthday gift. My ultimate goal was to train him to be an “Emotional Support” Dog. I wanted to bring him to work daily and named him in preparation to help others connect to healing, finding peace, comfort, and joy. Unfortunately, Link was spoiled as a pup and would not even come close to passing the requirements of becoming a professional “therapy dog.” However, he is my inspiration for opening and naming my practice after him, because Link did fulfill all of those things for me.

Link has shown me true unconditional love. He has been my biggest protector. He has helped me feel connected, even when I wanted to be alone and isolate. He has helped me to stay active and on top of my physical health. He has helped me feel happier in my darkest of times and he has helped relieve anxiety just by being my side. If you are lucky (and by request) Link is available to be shown via telehealth in our appointments (because he is often at my feet or nearby). One of the reasons I love doing telehealth with my clients is because I get a better picture of the people and pets that are important and special to you, too!
